The Restoration Journey

This historic home in Norfolk’s Ghent neighborhood featured beautiful, old-growth heart-pine floors. However, decades of high traffic, pet accidents, and ambered, worn polyurethane coatings had left the wood looking dry, yellowed, and heavily scratched.

The Problem

The homeowner wanted to revitalize the deep red warmth of the grain but was highly concerned about the massive dust clouds associated with standard wood sanding. Additionally, because the home is historic with original plaster walls, traditional aggressive sanding could have caused structural vibration issues.

The Coastal Solution

We utilized our advanced, HEPA-vacuum integrated dustless sanding machines. This extracted 99% of dust at the source, protecting the home's historic plaster and keeping the air perfectly clean. After stripping away the decayed wax layers, we applied a custom non-yellowing primer, followed by two coats of Loba 2K waterborne finish to seal and protect the wood with a modern, satin sheen.

"Coastal Floors completely changed our home. The dustless system was incredible—I couldn't find a trace of wood dust anywhere after they left. Our 80-year-old pine looks stunningly modern, bright, and completely transformed"
